True to the rural community spirit, Methven hosts some unique events that cater to all tastes.
From Miss Methven Pageant (just a bunch of burly farmer blokes dressed in drag!) to Dancing in the Streets to raise money for kids in need, the Methven Community are experts at raising funds for those who need them the most.

Petrol Heads.
You might be surprised to know that Methven is a really popular destination for rev heads, automotive junkies and collectors of some of the most unique and treasured vehicles in New Zealand.
From the polished and pristine Methven Motor Show, to the somewhat dirty (that's an understatement) Mud & Steel Winch Challenge... Methven is home to fantastic automotive events suited to all ages.

Sporting
It goes with out saying that Methven is obsessed with Rugby... but we also competitive croquet which makes us a pretty talented bunch.
Methven hosts a range of state and national sporting events including Harness Racing, Rodeo, Football, Swimming, Tennis, Bowls and the insanely gnarly down hill mountain bike comps.
When winter hits, Methven also comes alive with snow sports competitions for all ages. We even have an event for man (or woman) and his (or her) best friend... no not cats or ferrets, just dogs.
Exhibitions.
Just in case you're not into seriously cool adventure sports or national sporting events like croquet, Methven is also home to some community fetes and exhibitions.
From speciality craft fairs and large outdoor fetes; to rails jams and big air... Methven has an event to suit the whole family.
Methven also hosts a number of Show & Shine events attracting some of the best presented cars and bikes from around New Zealand.
Agricultural.
Well we are a rural town so it goes without saying that we host the Methven A&P Show each year.
Thanks to the Methven A&P Association and the generous support of the Methven Lions, the annual Methven A&P Show is the highlight of the rural calendar.
